What can I see on the Galloping Goose Trail?

First established in 1987, the scenic Galloping Goose Regional Trail is a 55-kilometre (34-mile) former railway path that connects Victoria and Sooke. Now an easy and accessible multi-use pathway, riders travel through unique urban, rural, and wilderness areas. Ride the Goose to sightsee ancient forests, wooden railway trestles, coastal shorelines, and more on this enchanting Southern Vancouver Island adventure.

Is an e-bike for me?

E-bikes offer an efficient and fun way to get around. It allows you to amplify your riding ability. Our rental fleet is capable of complementing a wide range of rider weights, heights, and terrain. Try a half day, we’re sure you’ll be be back.

Can I bring my own bike?

Please book a Shuttle Pass to bring your own bike and e-bike on the shuttle.

Note: The participant will not be supported by Electric Alpine Biking on the trail. By riding your own Bike or eBike, you acknowledge that mechanical support for your bike is your own responsibility. Charging is not available on the trail, and you should ensure that you and your bike have the ability to ride the selected trail mileage. Bringing an additional battery may be necessary.

Can I bring children?

Children are welcome on the shuttle bus and trail, however they must be supervised at all times. Options for children are below.

Chariot: Children ages 1-5 must ride in a rental chariot attached to the e-bike.
Tag along: Children ages 6-10 must ride in a tag-along attached to the e-bike.
Teen tandem: Teenagers aged 10-15 must ride a tandem e-bike with an adult.

Ages 16+ can rent an e-bike, however ages 16-18 must have a parent or guardian sign a waiver on their behalf and must be directly supervised by an adult.

Can I ride the shuttle without a bike?

Yes! Book the shuttle and register as a bike shuttle user – no bike needed! Please note, the fee will remain the same to book the bus seat.

What kind of electric bikes do you have?

The Volt Yukon V2 premium step-thru is a sport utility fat tire electric bike. It comes with features like hydraulic brakes, a large 17.5Ah Li-ion battery, and powerful motor for high-efficiency power. This bike provides an extra smooth ride and fits most people. Where is the e-bike rental location?

Electric Alpine is mobile rental bus that stops between Victoria and Sooke.

Full Goose / Half Goose / Free Range Riders: You will receive your meeting point location in your booking confirmation.
Shuttle Riders: Please visit our shuttle schedule to determine the best place to meet the bus. E-bikes and shuttle must be booked in advance.

What time should I arrive? What if I am late?

Please arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled departure time and plan ahead to allow time for parking on peak days/weekends.

If you do not arrive at the shuttle or activity by the orientation time, or if you decide to depart the activity for any reason after the shuttle or activity departs, you will not be able to rejoin the activity at a later time and you will not receive a refund.

What do I bring or wear?

Please wear appropriate clothing and closed toe shoes. Bring a water bottle, snacks, sun hat, sun screen, and comfortable clothing. Vancouver Island is susceptible to sudden weather changes, we suggest a rain coat as well.

Is a helmet necessary?

CSA, EN, ASTM, CPSC or Snell B90/B95 approved helmets are required for all cyclists by BC Law. No exceptions. We provide a helmet with each rental free of charge, or riders can bring their own.

What happens if it rains?

Unfortunately there will be no refunds provided for dissatisfaction with the weather. It is up to the rider to check the forecast and wear appropriate clothing. Portions of the shuttle or trail activity not used will also not be refunded.

If Electric Alpine Biking cancels the trip after it departs for any reason, including health and safety concerns, natural disaster, road conditions, weather, or other uncontrollable circumstances, you can transfer your activity to another day or receive a full refund. Is there a place to buy food or water on the trail?

The Galloping Goose is a remote trail. There are limited food stops long the way, however there are water stations. We recommend bringing a full water bottle and lunch/snacks to start your trip.

Can I bring my dog?

Dogs are allowed on the shuttle and trail but they must remain on a leash at all times and be picked up after, keep the trail clean! Please notify us at your time of booking if you plan on bringing your pet.

Important Note: The 55km trail can be an awful long run for our furry friends, so be kind to your pet and plan accordingly.

Was the proper trail etiquette?

The Galloping Goose Trail is a multi use trail. Horseback riders, hikers, and bicycle riders all use the trail. Please be courteous to all users. Always use your bell before passing on your left.

You are not permitted to drink alcohol while participating in the activity and for the duration of the rental.

Please don’t litter – pack it out – leave no trace – trash cans are located at various points along the trail.

There are washrooms along the trail, please use them.

Dogs are allowed on the trail but must remain on a leash at all times. Please pick up after your pet!

How long is the trail?

The full Galloping Goose Trail is 55km in length. However, the shuttle divides the riding into two 20km sections making it easy to choose to ride Half Goose, Full Goose, or go Free Range (the whole 55km trail).

How do I navigate the Galloping Goose Trail?

The Galloping Goose Trail is well marked and has maps, washrooms, and drinking water sources along the way. Each biker will receive a custom map designed by Electric Alpine also with their ride to assist with pickup, drop off, and points of interest.

What happens with a lost, stolen, or damaged bike (or rental gear)?

Please refer to the rental agreement that was sent to you along with your booking confirmation.

Do you have a permit to operate in the Capital Regional District (CRD)?

Electric Alpine Biking is an equal opportunity recreation provider that operates under special use permits with the Capital Regional District. Electric Alpine Biking has worked cooperatively with this agency to secure the appropriate permits.

If you must cancel your reservation for any reason, it is your responsibility to notify Electric Alpine Biking immediately through your booking email ,or in writing via email eabiking@gmail.com. Sorry, but we cannot accept cancellations or transfer requests via the phone. During business hours we are out on the trail or driving the shuttle bus.
